Advanced Aerodynamic Design

The T-nova is my new, capable small RC pattern parkflyer. It features a slightly larger wingspan than the previous iStar model but is a completely fresh aerodynamic design focused on a wide speed envelope.

To achieve its performance goals, the T-nova utilizes several intricate aerodynamic features:

  • Elliptical Wing Platform: Specifically chosen to minimize induced drag.
  • Thick Airfoil: This design choice helps maintain more consistent airspeed through various maneuvers.
  • Ample Tail Volume: Ensures good control authority and stability.
  • Dynamic Wash-out: Critically, this feature allows the plane to slow down well without tip stall, while still allowing it to speed up and track like a precise, straight-flying model.

The maiden flight confirmed a very solid and firm characteristic, reminiscent of a quality balsa build, resulting in exceptionally smooth flight performance. Watch the video to see its clean air-cutting ability.

Specifications:
Wing Span: 35.0 in.
Wing Area: 270 sq.in.
Length: 35.9 in.
Weight: 17.1 oz.

Power System: 2210-1400kv motor with 3s 1000mah 25C Lipo and 1060 propeller

More details can be found at the RC Groups discussion thread.

Hope you LIKE it! Cheers!!
